Proud Brother Lets Arsenal Transfer Hint Slip
While family can be wonderfully supportive, they might also let important information slip as Ajax defender Jurrien Timber has discovered.
Rumours have recently been circling that the 22-year-old Dutch professional will soon be joining Arsenal in a £30-£40 million move, with some believing that he has already undergone his medical examination with the English club.
By Saturday, 8 July, it seemed like the deal may have fallen through, as he was spotted joining Ajax in a pre-season friendly against Den Bosch at De Toekomst in Duivendrecht, Netherlands which ended in a 2-2 draw.
However, Timber’s brother reignited rumours on Sunday, 9 July, as he shared a festive picture via Instagram stories of the young defender in an Arsenal 2023-24 kit with the caption, “Jurrien’s goodbye party! See you in the streets of London.”
While the Gunners haven’t made an official announcement as of yet, pundits are expecting the club to welcome the new player within the upcoming week.
Timber will be joining midfielder Kai Havertz, who recently transferred to Arsenal from Chelsea for a reported sum of £65 million. The pair are also expected to have midfielder Declan Rice join from West Ham United, however, there’s still been no official word about that agreement just yet either.
